New businesses a boost to the Market Common in Myrtle Beach

One of the new businesses, Yoga in Common, wrapped up its grand opening weekend with a big turnout.

A construction business is also moving its offices to the Market Common.

Ice rink heads for Market Common

Residents and tourists in Myrtle Beach will have the chance to take part in a Northern pastime this holiday season.

The Market Common will open a synthetic ice skating rink at Valor Park beginning Dec. 19. The rink will remain open through Jan. 3.

"When we would talk about things that would be fun for the holidays, ice skating was just a natural fit," said Hatton Gravely, marketing manager at The Market Common. "I think it's a good draw to bring in tourists. It's just one more thing that Myrtle Beach has to offer that maybe some of the other towns don't have." Read more >

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Few people in Myrtle Beach plan to spend the holiday season skating outside, but that is something the Market Common is working to change.

Opening to the public on Dec. 19, the Market Common’s Valor Park will open a synthetic ice rink. To keep from constantly having to use water and electricity to keep the ice from melting, the rink is made of a special type of plastic that along with the friction of real ice skates releases a lubricating solution allowing skaters to feel as though they are on real ice. According to a news release, Market Common character appearances, Barnes & Noble storytelling, and a special showing of “A Christmas Carol” at a discounted price are all a part of the event which will also include free birthday cake, a magic show, balloon artists and other family friendly activities.MYRTLE BEACH – The Pee Dee Division of the South Carolina Chapter of the March of Dimes will host the inaugural “Healthy Birthday” celebration on Tuesday, November 17 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at The Market Common’s Grand 14 Cinema.

‘Yoga in Common’ combines a yoga studio and a store, called ‘the ‘TIQUE’, that sells yoga accessories and earth-friendly products. Some of those items include art, candles, jewelry, soaps, and other gifts.Yoga enthusiasts will soon have a new place to stretch out and get in shape in Myrtle Beach. ‘Yoga in Common’ is preparing for its big grand opening at Market Common on November 14.

‘The ‘TIQUE’ will be open from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., when yoga classes are not in session.
